Little Linus turns 3 MONTHS OLD this week!

First, I would like to share some of Gush's quirks and behaviors that have developed over the past month.

1. Around 11pm, Linus begins to use his wheel. His newest interest is taking a couple of pieces of food from his dish, and placing them on the wheel while he runs. I don't even know.

2. Linus is beginning to settle down a bit when held, and enjoys cuddling into my hand while I write blog posts and edit photos.

3. Linus now likes meal worms. He won't eat them from my hand, but only in his dish. Hooray for MEALIES!

4. He still dislikes baths.

5. Like Pikachu, he won't stay in his ball. And by ball, I mean that cute ball shape hedgies form in to. Linus wriggles out very quickly.

So why meal worms? Hedgehogs are insectivores, which means naturally they eat bugs. Lots and lots of protein. Linus needs this protein to run all night and rattle his wheel. Also to gain a bit of weight while he grows. Hedgehogs in the wild have been known to eat poisonous bugs, and even scorpions! In doing so, they salivate and wipe this on their quills, perhaps creating a defensive layer from predators. Linus won't be going near any of these. He is a genuine adventure-hog, not Indiana Jones.
